Be confused no longer! Pinot d' Alsace is not a grape, but a blend of grapes: Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois, & Chardonnay. And in the hands of a master producer like Zind-Humbrecht, it's absolutely delicious.
2007 Zind-Humbrecht Pinot d’Alsace, 13.5% ABV: Lovely golden color, with wonderful minerality gliding alongside honey, melon, and white peach. This wine is a perfect example of how sweet aromas & fruitiness do not correlate to sweetness on the palate. Fantastic minerality balances the weight of the fruit for a wonderfully drinkable, yet interesting wine. Aging beautifully. One of my favorite Alsatian producers, and always a sure hit.
