From UEFA Soccer to My Wine Glass...

Image In honor of Spain's victory in UEFA Euro 2012, I am drinking this little gem out of the center of deliciously affordable wines, Jumilla.

2009 Juan Gill Monastrell, 15% ABV: Produced from 40 year old vines and aged for a full year in French oak barrels. Bursting with ripe, fleshy, and juicy notes of black cherry & a mix between the earthier side of Huckleberry and the sweet side of Marionberry. (I know this because I just tasted this alongside these jams from my recent trip to Oregon. I LOVE these fruits!) Nice dose of pepper and spice on the nose and palate, and a long lingering finish and a balanced tannic structure. Highly drinkable and a veritable home run for my red wine drinking friends. Couple that with a $12.99 price tag...can anyone say no brainer??
