And a case of Déjà vu.
Hoppin' Frog Frosted Frog Christmas Ale, 8.6% ABV: Seriously, this is uncanny. This beer immediately reminds me of its Ohio beer brethren, Great Lakes Christmas Ale. Subconscious power of suggestion? Maybe.
However, this offering presents much more concentrated aromas of malt, brown sugar, and heavy spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and ginger. On the palate, the spices dominate on a particularly sweet malt base.
Honest opinion? I believe they need to pull back the reigns on this one, as the beer lends an overwhelming aromatic and flavor profile. I wanted to love it, as I do their Boris, but a few sips and my palate was saturated. A little less of everything will bring it into balance, and will have people clamoring for more.
